Silicided Graphite Rod Experimental Summary

First, the purpose of the experiment

Second, the experimental process

1, thermal shock test: a new plug of graphite silicon carbide inserted into the copper branch level horizontal continuous casting holding furnace, each holding in the copper liquid for about 2 minutes, at the same time take out after about 5 minutes cooling and then insert Holding furnace. Copper liquid temperature is about 930 ℃.

Analysis: As can be seen from Figure 2, after more than 10 heat shocks, the surface of the piston rod without any microcracks and peel pits and other surface defects. Description of such silicate plug stopper good thermal shock resistance.

1, high temperature oxidation experiments:

2.1 anti-copper melting process of high temperature oxidation performance

The root silicide plug with a thermal shock resistance was immersed in a semi-continuous furnace in an experimental plant. The smelting time was copper and the immersion time was 4.5 hours. Analysis: From the smelting copper situation, the silicon carbide plug rod immersion 4.5 hours, no oxidation spalling to reduce the size, but ordinary graphite plug oxidation spalling to reduce plug diameter significantly, indicating high resistance to oxidation of silicate graphite plug rod good performance (although Ordinary graphite stopper rod immersed in copper liquid for a long time, but its diameter decreased significantly)

2.2 anti-high temperature oxidation of bronze melting performance

Another new silicide plug was installed on a 300 kg horizontal continuous casting furnace in an experimental plant to test its resistance to high temperature oxidation.

The first use, until after the introduction of bronze pull new silicide plug stopper use. The time soaking in copper liquid for 5 hours.

After the first installation, this more silicide plug was not removed, the second cast bronze use, the use of time of about 9 hours.

Analysis: As can be seen from Figure 7, the Silicided Graphite Rods were used for 14 hours in the process of horizontal continuous casting bronze. There was no obvious peeling layer on the surface and the measurement size was basically unchanged. According to the past use of ordinary graphite stopper, use the same time in the process of casting bronze, stopper basically scrapped.

1, Silicided graphite stopper sticks have good thermal shock resistance, which can fully satisfy the process of melting copper alloy;

2, Silicone plug stopper excellent high temperature oxidation resistance, can effectively improve the service life of graphite stopper.
